Historique :	Une notice d'Alexandre Lenoir de 1798 relate que cette oeuvre ornait à l'origine le parc du château de Bouthillier de Chaligny à Pont-sur-Seine. Au 17e siècle, elle fut cédée aux Capucins de Nogent et transformée en Vierge à l'Enfant. A la Révolution, elle changea à nouveau d'attributs pour devenir une Allégorie de la Justice (livre de lois dans la main senestre, balance dans la main dextre). Elle devint sainte Geneviève au cours du 19e siècle. Ces travestissement successifs expliqueraient le fait que les mains et la coiffe actuelle soient des ajouts.
